Who Are You Going To Be This Spring?

If you’ve had an eye on the street style of the northern hemisphere these past few months, you might have picked up on a few seemingly inescapable spring trends. Capri pants — yes, that mid-2000s fitted pant ending just below the knee — is so back, as is crochet (maybe a hangover from everyone’s pandemic obsession?). There’s the adornment to almost every Y2K accessory, studs, and fun flats too. Boho’s coming back, but so is ’90s minimalism. It’s been a “choose your fighter” kind of season, and if you, like us, are trying to decide whether you’re going to be a haute hippie or a party princess, allow us to help. Here, we’ve styled a look for the trends we predict will be everywhere this spring, complete with the pieces you’ll be wearing on repeat all season long.

Haute Hippie

No one does boho chic like Zimmermann, and its gauzy batwing sleeve blouse with an embroidered collar is as haute hippie as it gets. Pair it with Sass and Bide’s vintage wide leg jeans, on Level 2, Sandro’s gold leather crossbody bag, available on Level 1, and Jo Mercer’s gold espadrille wedges, on Level 2.

Party Princess

Cut loose and hit the town in teeny tiny pieces made for partying. Spring nights can still be cool, so opt for a long sleeve top in a sexy sheer fabric with an interesting neckline, like this  lace-trimmed one from Bec & Bridge on Level 2. Team it with an ultra mini skirt (the pleats give this one from Maje on Level 1 a preppy edge) and finish it all off with a pair of chunky loafers from Camper on Ground Floor and some slouchy white socks.

Beach Chic

Start with a basic black bikini, like this one from Calvin Klein on Level 1. Layer over Bassike’s breezy wide leg pants in cornflower blue — a shade of the season — available on Level 2 and throw an oversized white linen shirt, like this one from Uniqlo, over top. Finish off the look with Vans’ cute Mary Janes from Hype DC on Lower Ground and Gorman’s tote bag to carry a towel on Level 2.

’90s Sleek

Silk is very ’90s — it practically screams refined elegance — so start with a simple slip skirt like Camilla and Marc’s champagne version, available on Level 2. A cami is a lo-fi addition (Citizens of Humanity’s Isabel tank from Husk on Level 2 is the perfect cut) and a pair of mini heeled ballet slippers, like these from Scanlan Theodore on Level 2, add the final touch. If it’s cool, tie Uniqlo’s black cashmere sweater over your shoulders á la Gwyneth Paltrow circa 1995.
