They’re one of the biggest bands in the world and since their formation in 1997, Coldplay have turned out one award-winning album after another, winning multigenerational fans globally in the process. This November, the band is heading Down Under for their Music of the Spheres world tour, and across the country, fans will be belting out tunes from their latest album Moon Music, along with some of the classics. (It wouldn’t be a Coldplay concert without a tearful rendition of Yellow, after all.)

When it comes to dressing for the occasion, the Coldplay concert doesn’t call for Eras-level effort, but some consideration to looking on theme just makes the night more fun. Where better to take our cues from than the band itself?

Inspired by: Chris Martin

Coldplay’s lead singer isn’t a style icon, but his modern normcore aesthetic is approachable and comfortable (something you’ll need if you plan to dance through the entire show). Think well-cut jeans, printed T-shirts (often V-neck) and simple sneakers. Try a pair of washed black jeans from Industrie, a tie-dye shirt from Scotch and Soda and some comfortable sneakers, like these New Balance ones.

She might be the wellness guru of the moment now, but Gwyneth Paltrow was the darling of the ’90s, known for her demure red carpet ensembles, playful approach to fashion and that Tom Ford for Gucci suit. She was also famously Martin’s ex-wife, and any millennial girlie worth her Goop subscription would jump at the chance to take sartorial inspo from GM herself. Lean into the sleek silhouettes she was once famous for, starting with this strapless slip dress from Bec + Bridge, worn with this Merino wool cardigan from Viktoria & Woods and these barely-there sandals from Aje.

Maybe you take concert dressing seriously, and you’re planning to go a little harder on the theme front. Take your cues from these galactic-inspired pieces that nod to the tour’s cosmic vibe. Sandro’s rhinestone-studded jeans lend starry night glamour, Ganni’s metallic Buckle Ballerinas add to the fun, while Uniqlo’s plain white T-shirt brings it back down to earth.
