Some people celebrate Halloween in October. We mark our calendars for Melbourne Fashion Week. From the 21st to the 27th October, our already buzzing city will come alive with street style, off-duty models and fashion enthusiasts spotted front row at inspiring runway shows across the city. Kicking off with the ganbu marra Runway — where First Nations talent is showcased at Melbourne Museum — and ending with the closing showcase marking 30 years of Melbourne Fashion Week, the week’s schedule is jam packed. Read on for our guide to the week, including how to make the most of the action at Emporium Melbourne.

The ganbu marra Runway is, of course, the only way to kick off M/FW, but after that, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to things to see and do. Below are some of the most innovative fashion moments of the week:

  • Emporium Melbourne’s presentation on Little Bourke Street will spotlight some of our most-loved local and international designers, from Sandro Paris to Rebecca Vallance. The best bit? You’ll be able to find the looks at Emporium Melbourne right after the show.
  • The always inspiring Student Collections Runway is taking place on Tuesday 22nd at the Lume and promises to be a display of creativity and innovation.
  • When it comes to technology, the Volvo Electric Runway has that sorted. Australian designers will be spotlighting slow fashion in a show that attendees can watch from one of Volvo’s electric vehicles, EX30.
  • For the Fashion x Underground exhibition, the city’s young designers are taking the reins in an experimental presentation that sees live performances merge with art and fashion in Melbourne’s iconic Town Hall.

Throughout the week, there are plenty of exhibitions, pop-up runways and conversations to catch around the city, not to mention Emporium Melbourne’s Fashion Capsules, where you’ll have the chance to win one of five exclusive runway packages. There are roundtables discussing all things fashion, from the future of inclusivity to how neurodivergent Australians are shaping fashion Down Under, as well as workshops on how to make the most of your wardrobe and exciting retail activations not to be missed.

Emporium marks its 10th birthday this October, just in time for MFW, so we’re celebrating with a slew of deals and pop-ups in-centre. Here’s just a taste of what you’ll find at Emporium Melbourne, but for the full lowdown on all the offers, visit The House Party of Melbourne on Emporium Melbourne’s website.

  • At Emporium’s Little Bourke Street Runway, there’ll be gift bags for attendees, while some of our retailers will be offering exclusive deals throughout the week.
  • At Aje, shoppers will be treated to 25% off storewide.
  • Viktoria and Woods will have refreshments at their boutique, as well as a spend and save offer for purchases over $500, $750 and $1000.
  • On Level 2, catch the showcase featuring emerging talent, stylists, artisans, bright designers and students as part of M/FW’s Fashion Capsule activation, located on Ground Floor and Level 2.
  • On the Ground Floor, Moments — an interactive photo activation — allows you to step into a captivating display as every screen becomes a portal and every camera a storyteller, capturing the beauty, energy, and elegance of the occasion.
  • Decades, a pop-up cocktail bar, will be pouring drinks on Level 1 for shoppers 18 years and older.
  • For the luxury lovers among us, enjoy live oysters shucked before your eyes on Level 2.
When you spend $350, you’ll also receive a $30 Emporium Melbourne gift card.

There’s so much to see and do at Emporium Melbourne this October, it’s worth marking the calendar for. For more information, visit The House Party Of Melbourne.
