Feel the buzz around Emporium Melbourne as hundreds of thousands of urban bees enrich our ecosystem in our very own rooftop bee farm.

This project by Rooftop Honey not only seeks to address issues of sustainability, it also aims to raise awareness of the importance of bees whilst creating delicious honey.

Some ways you can help the bees are:

• Avaaz has a petition asking the US and EU to stop using neonicotinoid pesticides
• Greenpeace have a dedicated site to bees with very useful information including a petition
• Don’t use pesticides on your garden plants - Protecting Bees from Neonicotinoid Insecticides in your Garden
• Purchase organic or local foods when possible
• Join local initiatives dedicated to helping the bee colonies

Polyfloral honey is produced with the bees foraging to the gardens around our beautiful city with notes of eucalyptus and some stronger tea tree flavours.

Today there are 13 hives on the Emporium Melbourne rooftop, each averaging 30kg of honey per year per hive. In total two tonnes of honey has been produced since the project commenced in 2014 with 4 hives.
